My Story

I signed an extension to become the political reporter at WJTV 12 News on May 1st. I am stepping into the role after covering part of the 2025 legislative session. Some of my coverage focused on lawmakers passing a tax reform bill to phase out the state's income tax, lower the grocery tax, and raise the gas tax.

Before I became the political reporter, I was a general assignment reporter for 12 News when I started in Jackson, Mississippi in 2025. I covered a wide array of stories, including breaking news, in-depth, investigative, politics, sports, and weather.

In May of 2024, I put together in-depth reports on the state of the Mississippi economy, looking at where the jobs are, along with which industries are thriving.

The City of Jackson found themselves in a garbage debacle after not getting a garbage contract signed in April 2023 which left residents without garbage collection for 17 days. I started following the story when I got to WJTV while the city was in the middle of an emergency contract and covered it until city council voted on a new contract in March.

My first live shot involved covering the major Hinds County ransomware attack. I covered this for almost three weeks when Hinds County's services were restored. This also prevented residents from renewing car tags and other services.

I'm from Weatherford, Texas and obtained a Master of Arts in Journalism from Ole Miss. My experiences at Ole Miss shaped me into a well-rounded journalist over two years. Through various opportunities, I gained invaluable experience in multimedia, including associate producing for Ole Miss baseball and softball with our SEC Network crew, writing print and video stories, and managing multiple social media channels. Additionally, I covered Ole Miss athletics as a sports reporter. I also traveled to Italy as a graduate assistant with the School of Journalism and New Media.

I have a passion for storytelling and aspire to help others tell their story. Everyone has a story that is unique and here you will also find personal experiences from my journey through graduate school. I hope you enjoy the journey and adventure of navigating your way from story to story!
